Greetings friends. First post after a crazy, jet-lagged, few days here in Cape Town. I’ve already met musicians, dancers, helped teach Hip-Hop classes in Mitchell’s Plain township, had my credit card defrauded, and ridden my unicycle up to Table Mountain (well, to where the cable car departs from — but it’s still a helluva hike!).
I’m still getting sorted out how to update everyone all at once, i.e., publish once to my website and have it go to my email list, Facebook*, Twitter, etc.
This post is my first test. I have put up a photo of my friend, Emile Jansen, teaching class yesterday — it was great. The photo isn’t great because a) I’m not a great photographer, and b) the class was packed, so I had to stay out of the way. Emile is one of the founders Black Noise, one of the pioneers of South African Hip-Hop. And yes, that is his real hair.
Be patient, if this works, more to come with some fun videos ,e.g.,
* Facebook is really driving me nuts because the target keeps moving. I made many of you join my DJ page because Facebook didn’t allow people to write to more than 20 friends. Since then they have added the “Subscribe” option to personal pages. So it’s a rat’s nest — and I apologize to those of you getting pinged from 4 different directions — I hope the posts make it all worthwhile!
