While I love Cape Town and have some great friends here, I’m eager to start exploring more of Africa. Sadly, the roadblock now is my credit union and getting access to my own funds to buy the “Green Mistress”. I spent the better part of yesterday on Skype and emailing in order to deal with what has been some of the most maddening bureaucratic, risk-averse, hidebound, rule adherence that you can imagine. I’m not going to write up the details here — doing so would both frustrate the hell out of my readers, as well as bore you to tears.
Instead, I’ve included a couple of photos from of the highlight of my day — a unicycle ride to the “Mast” at the top of Tokai with Johnny Cronje, a helluva a rider — we climbed 900m over 10 km — and had some baboons greet us along the route.
P.S. Major news here has been some drug smuggling cases. First a South African woman caught smuggling drugs into China was executed in China last Monday–causing some political heat. Then, the next day, another South African woman was caught smuggling cocaine into Thailand — she had over 3 pounds in her dreadlocks!
PPS – Yes, more photos will be posted soon!
