Miles – 362
(by Jason Martin)
-Up at 3:30am -Cut the travel time from 3 hours to 1 hour 50 min -Staight through Areokeepa -Cranked 300kms to Tacna without stopping
I took full control at the boarder crossing, setting a blistering record time of 1 hour 20 min. Our new stratigy worked like a charm, you pretend like you dont speak a word of Spanish (I dont anyway). Suddenly when they figure out you dont have a clue what they«re talking about,(when they«re asking for money) “bang bang!” you get the required stamps and are free to go. To ous dismay no 17″ tires were not availlible in Arica Chile. Although we were able to change our oil and find a decent place to stay all before dark. A very long, eventfull, productive day. The quaint little surf town of 150000 excited us to clean up, eat and go party! We showered, ate, then came home and went to sleep. We were totaly exausted, but we both agree, Chile is alot different from Peru, already we notice, it is clean, civilized, no loud honking horns, and no chasing dogs! We love Chile!
