In case you missed the memo, as somehow I did–there is a phenomenon of cities around the world making videos to Pharrell Williams’s Happy. Here is the official video.
I first heard about this when I was in Saint Nazaire, France* on the Atlantic coast, where there was a film crew at the skate park. My friend informed me that cities all over France were each making their own version.
Here is one from Nantes:
I soon discovered that was not just happening in France, but all over!
to Bangalore, India…
to one of the happiest places I know, Trinidad & Tobago!
The versions range from high-end productions to cellphone movies by families, but the energy is undeniable, and it is a pretty cool phenomenon. In a world that can easily bring you down, it is important to tap into the joy of living.
* One of the “happy” (slightly crazy) things I did there was ride unicycles across the Saint Nazaire bridge with two of my friends. I’m afraid you can barely hear my little speaker–which isn’t playing “Happy”, but rather some Kwaito music from South Africa.
