Hope y’all had a great bunch of holidaze! I hurt my knee mountain unicycling on Christmas Day, so I’ve been laying low. But yesterday, my friend Nii Oblie (aka DJ Ras Nii) called me to tell you that VIP had arrived to do a last minute show at Shattuck Down Low. So I took my meds (ibuprofen) and went to the show where the Ghanaians were out in force. A few photos/video are here:
VIP is one of the top Hip-Life groups from Ghana. Hip-Hop + High-Life = Hip-Life. Just go to YouTube and check them out. Here is the song they are best known for Ahomka Womu.
Today there will be two showings of a documentary about Hip-Life music featuring VIP and other groups.
The shows are at 446 Valencia (Intersection for the Arts) in San Francisco. Shows are at 3pm and 8pm. Sorry for the short notice–I just found out my damn self!
